First time using InDesign in order to create a Double page spread in practice for our final product.
In order to create this double page spread I created a 3 page document i first edited my main image in Photo shop i then decided what type of double page spread I wanted to replicate. Seen as this was only a practice I didn't write an article I just pasted a document I had already written for another subject in order to get the feel and to work with text. I inserted text onto the main image and a kicker which would normally kick start the article i then played around with text warp colounms enlarging and changing fonts changing the colour and types of fonts and placing them were I felt looked good. This DPS is not at all to a professional standard but it was helpful for my final product as i had an idea of how and what i was able to do which helped me create my double page spread easier. I learnt how to insert images resize images and rotate images. I then learnt how to use drop cap and the effect it had on an article. All in all i found this exerciser very helpful.
For this task we were
required to create a magazine layout which showed all the different types of
skills which we have learned in InDesign. For this exercise I chose an article
out of the October addition of Woman, which was based on beauty cosmetics. I
done this as I thought it would be more of a challenge to try and recreate a
professional layout of an article in a real magazine. Firstly I created a new
document in InDesign i set the document to three pages so that I could do a
double page spread. I ensured the pages were A4 and that I had set 3 columns
for my magazine. I then clicked file and pasted in the photo of Toni in
the left hand side of my magazine spread i ensured the photo was edited
properly before hand in Photoshop as you cannot edit your photos in InDesign. I
then chose my colors and began putting in my text boxes were I thought they
looked best. I learnt how to text warp and how to change the background colour
although i didn’t like the background being a color so i removed this from my
final piece. I learnt how to line up my text boxes and also how to get the writiing
to continue into the box beside it by clicking the triangles, which were in the
bottom right hand corner of the box. When inserting my images i clicked file
open and the pictures of the cream were on the right-hand side of my magazine.
I rotated some and others i used text wrap so that the writting formed around
the photo giving it a more professional edge.
